Paris Day One

As soon as we crossed into French airspace it was clear what a contrast France would be from Iceland.  In Iceland the land was sparse and rocky while France appeared to be lush green fields stretching as far as the eye could see.  As our plane touched down I was almost giddy thinking about all the pasties to be eaten!
There was a burst of rain that hit just as we were traveling from the Metro to our wonderful Hotel Diana but after that it was nothing but the most gorgeous blue skies.  The sky really was bluer and the light of the setting sun softer and more golden than it is here.  I’m sure there is some kind of scientific explanation behind it but I couldn’t get enough.
We were staying in the Latin Quarter so we explored the Jardin du Luxembourg and Notre Dame with its nearby bread tent filled with amazing pastries.  I also had my first crepe-the Paris portion of the trip was already off to a delicious start!
