Giverny

We booked a tour of Monet’s house in Giverny in the province of Normandy.  We arrived at Monet’s house on the earlier side which worked well because I can imagine the gardens get tight as the crowds grow.  It was so amazing to walk around Monet’s garden made famous by his gorgeous water lily paintings.  The funny thing is Monet’s water lily paintings are so calm and tranquil, but in real life the garden was filled with the loud sounds of frogs and other wildlife.  It sounded like we were deep in the jungle!

We were also able to tour the house which overlooked another, less noisy, garden.  Our tour guide was great and took us the scenic route home, stopping at Château de La Roche-Guyon and a unique church inside a cave.  It was nice to get out of the city and see the green rolling hills and expansive wheat fields that made up the beautiful French countryside.  I definitely recommend taking the trip to Monet’s house-well worth the journey!
