My friend, the very fashionable Marie of the Twin Living lifestyle blog, recently asked me to shoot some head shots for her. Portraits of a beautiful lady in the Boston Public Garden during the Fall? Yes, yes and yes!!! The late afternoon light was ideal, catching Marie’s pretty hair just right. Even though we had to avoid the crazed squirrels scurrying around us hiding their acorns for the winter, we had a great time. Looking forward to planning a shoot this winter with both Marie and her twin Jenn!

Boston in Bloom

I look forward to the tulips blooming in the Boston Public Garden every year! They are only there for a few short weeks so I try to snap as many pictures as I can while they last.

How could their bright colors not put a smile on your face!

Especially after the winter we had, these flowers are a very welcome sight

April Showers

April saw its fair share of showers but I am happy to report there are some May flowers starting to pop up around town! Along with petal peeping, I have been doing some Paris planning (!), dancing at the Chromeo show and paid a visit to the nearby graffiti wall to check out some cool new art. I’m very excited to share some photos soon that I took with my real camera of the tulips at the Public Gardens so please stay tuned! With the weather improving, I have been feeling more inspired to take pictures while I am out and about. Along with a lot of showers, April has brought some early flowers, a trip to Providence, delicious holiday baking and the return of outdoor tennis (yay!). Snow Day

If you’re anything like me you were probably a little disappointed when the Groundhog saw his shadow. While I am ready for warmer days, I must admit that snow sure can be pretty. It blankets the city in a beautiful calm while it’s falling (when you have to start shoveling out parking spots, that’s a different story!). It’s a shame I didn’t have my real camera with me but I’m sure it didn’t mind staying nice and cozy at home :-)

Santa Speedo Give Away!

I am again participating with Santa’s Rundeer in the Santa Speedo Run, which for those of you who are unfamiliar involves running down the streets of the Back Bay in a bathing suit in December to benefit the Play Ball! Foundation. It is a fun event for an awesome cause and I am happy to take part again this year!

To help with the fundraising this year I am giving away a photo shoot! The lucky winner will receive:

a photo shoot involving the person(s), place or thing of his/her choosing (if you don’t live in Massachusetts, we can work it out);
an online web gallery of edited images;
the digital downloads of said images; and
six 4×6, four 5×7 and one 8×10 prints of the image(s) of your choosing.

Quack Quack!

I celebrated this year’s incredible Red Sox season with my Dad and two million of our fellow Sox fans at the Rolling Rally. Spirits were high and the weather was perfect. It was a much needed party in the City of Boston after the year we have had! My Dad and I scoped out a spot on Cambridge Street towards the end of the parade where we saw Ortiz climb down from the flatbed he was riding in to jump in a Duck for the amphibious part of the trip! We were lucky enough to catch Ortiz again unexpectedly on our walk back as we spotted the Ducks returning to Fenway as they whizzed past MIT. When Ortiz saw the Collier jersey the MIT officers had out he nodded and touched his hand to his heart-just one of many special moments along the route.

Some of the prettiest were the views of the Ducks swimming along from on top of the Longfellow Bridge and the Cambridgeside banks of the River Charles.

I’d love to say Ortiz was pointing me out but at this point I was standing next to a little boy with a Red Sox bat twice his size

Boom

I love the Boston Pops 4th of July Spectacular: the 1812 Overture, the Stars and Stripes kick lines, but most of all I love the fireworks. I usually view the fireworks from the banks of the Charles but this year I tried a new location. The view was pretty amazing, especially for the new pyrotechnics along the Mass Ave Bridge. However, I felt a little detached from the experience. I guess I need to be close enough to smell the gunpowder and feel the booms! Pictures rarely do fireworks justice but I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots. Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th!

Make Way For Avi

When Shelly asked me if I would take some photos of her family at the Public Gardens I very enthusiastically said yes. I was especially excited to learn it would be Shelly and her son Avi’s first time riding my beloved Swan Boats! We had planned the shoot weeks in advance and lucked out with a beautiful day: it wasn’t too hot and there was some especially gorgeous light hiding under the weeping willows.

Avi has such great a energy that is completely contagious. We certainly had a lot of fun with this shoot!
